Best Dog Walks in the Quantock Hills (Quiet, Beautiful & Worth Finding)

1 min read

The Quantock Hills are one of those places that feel like a bit of a secret.

Less crowded than many national parks, but just as beautiful — and for dog owners, that’s a very good thing.

🌿 Why the Quantocks are ideal for dogs

What makes the Quantocks special isn’t just the scenery.

It’s the space.

You’ll find:

  • open heathland

  • wooded valleys

  • quiet tracks

  • long views across to the sea

And often, far fewer people than you’d expect.

🐾 Walks to look out for

Without turning this into a guidebook, a few favourites include:

  • ridge walks with panoramic sea views

  • shaded woodland routes on warmer days

  • longer circular walks for dogs who need a proper stretch

🌊 And when you want something different

You’re also within reach of the coast.

Which means:

  • beach walks

  • sea air

  • a change of scenery

Always a good option when you want to mix things up.

🍺 The important bit: pubs

No walk is complete without a good pub at the end.

And thankfully, there are a few nearby that are:

  • welcoming

  • relaxed

  • and very used to dogs

💛 Final thought

Some places are about ticking off routes.

The Quantocks aren’t really like that.

They’re better when you:

  • wander

  • explore

  • and take your time
