Sometimes you just need to get away.
Not with a group. Not with a partner. Just you, your dogs and a little time to yourself.
And if the thought of travelling alone feels daunting, you're not the only one. Lots of our guests come to Quantock Cottages on their own – with their dogs. The reason is that they feel safe as our cottages are tucked away on the privacy and security of our country estate and this is where Simon and I live as well.

We know that choosing somewhere to stay on your own is different.
You want somewhere beautiful, of course. But you also want to feel comfortable arriving on your own. Somewhere you can relax, walk straight from the door, take the dogs out without worrying and know that there are friendly people nearby if you need them.
That's what our little corner of the Quantocks is all about. Our cottages are tucked away in the countryside, surrounded by beautiful walks and plenty of space, but you're never far from civilisation.
There are lovely pubs to wander to, places to explore and a warm welcome waiting for you when you come back. And Simon and I are just at the end of a phone if you need us.
We have just 3 boutique cottages and one luxury enclosed woodland glamping retreat on our country estate in Somerset.

There is something rather lovely about a holiday with just your dogs. You have
No one to please but yourself
No itinerary to stick to
No need to be anywhere at a particular time
Wake up when you want. Pull on your boots. Let the dogs lead the way
Give the wooffers a run in one of our 3 secure dog fields
Follow a footpath through the woods, wander across the hills, stop for coffee somewhere lovely or find a country pub for lunch.
Then come home, light the fire, sink into your covered hot tub and settle in for the evening.
Your dogs will probably be exhausted. You might be too. And that's rather the point!.
You Will Not Be Alone Unless Of course You Want To!
One of the nicest things about staying here is that solo guests often find themselves chatting to other people without really trying. We are here and love to meet guests and show them around or are at the end of a phone.
The rule in Somerset is If you DONT have a dog then your not welcome! and its funny dogs always bring people together because the love of dogs is something that we have in common.
So if you wanted to you can say a hello on a walk. A conversation in the pub with fellow dog owners is always on the card - us "Zummerzet" folk love a good chat with fellow dog lovers
Little moments that make you feel connected without ever having to make an effort.
We have lots of ladies who come back to stay with us on their own with their dogs. Some started out feeling a little nervous that's because the Quantocks have a way of making you feel at ease.
A Holiday With Your Dogs At Your Own Pace
There's no pressure here to fill your days. You can explore every corner of the Quantock Hills, or barely leave the cottage.
You can spend the afternoon walking
Or reading
Or sitting in the hot tub watching the sky change
You can have dinner in or out, cook something lovely for yourself or simply open a bottle of something nice and put your feet up.
It's your time.
You get to spend it exactly as you please with your dogs - what can possibly be better than that!

That's why our cottages are genuinely dog friendly, with beautiful countryside and wonderful walks right on the doorstep.
Oh did we mention that we have 3 secure dog fields all of which are fenced to 6ft for your exclusive use.
There are muddy paws to enjoy, streams to splash through and endless new smells to investigate.Your dog gets freedom.You get company.And neither of you has to compromise.
