Top 5 UK Honeymoon Ideas And Inspiration For 2022
Updated: Jun 17
With so many people having experienced the huge disappointment of cancelled weddings, honeymoons and minimoons and the uncertainty of countries coming on and off the ‘green list’ of places you can visit, looking forward to next year, we’re sure that even more couples are considering the UK as their honeymoon destination of choice. We believe that the UK is a fantastic place to have an unforgettable honeymoon and with our experience of helping our own guests, we wanted to share our top ideas for a UK honeymoon or minimoon in 2022.
1. Take your dogs on your honeymoon or minimoon
Being dog lovers this had to be number one on our list of ideas. If you have dogs, then one of the main perks of honeymooning in the UK is being able to take your pooches with you. In any of our three dog friendly holiday cottages in rural Somerset you may bring up to three fur kids with you (more dogs possible on request and all breads are welcome). We wanted to offer our guests so much more than just being able to have their dogs with them on their honeymoon. We love helping our canine guests to experience a special break away too. Outside each cottage you will find a Doogie Spa which includes a hot and cold shower, a bath tub and a drying bench. Your dogs will love exploring the beautiful Quantock Hills and nearby beaches with you and when they get back to the cottages they have access to an on-site purpose built Dog Zone which is a ¾ acre enclosed woodland play area, complete with an agility course. And it doesn’t stop there, we can provide you with details to book a dog food delivery during your stay, so you and your doogies don’t have to lift a finger (or paw).
2. Choose romantic accommodation
Picking the accommodation for your honeymoon or minimoon is just as important as the destination itself and there are so many options ranging from hotels to B&Bs and glamping pods that it can be difficult to make a decision. However, if you love the thought of escaping and unwinding in a rural location then what could be more romantic than a luxury, secluded holiday cottage? Here at Quantock Cottages, The Quantock Hide cottage is a favourite among honeymooners and minimooners and for good reason. Inside the cottage you will find state of the art amenities, rich fabrics, stylish furnishings and romantic luxuries including a wood burner for those cosy nights in and a master bedroom with a roll top bath for two. Outside the cottage you will find your own enclosed private garden with tropical plants, a tiki bar, a fire pit and a Bali inspired covered hot tub for the ultimate way to unwind on your honeymoon with a glass of bubbly.
3. Include a luxury honeymoon package
One of our favourite ideas to make your honeymoon extra special is to add on a luxury honeymoon package. When you stay with us we can provide you with the details to choose your perfect honeymoon or minimoon treats. Picture relaxing as a couple during your in-cottage spa treatment, or enjoying a pampering spa day at one of the nearby spas. For the ultimate foodie experience a private chef will come and cook and serve you delicious food in the comfort of your cottage – you won’t even have to do the washing up. We are very pleased to be able to offer our guests a 10% discount for the private chef experience. How about a traditional farm shop or luxury food box delivery? For a romantic picnic in your cottage or for a special alfresco meal in your private enclosed garden a food box delivery would be the perfect treat.
4. Explore the UK’s beautiful scenery
Some honeymooners and minimooners may have overlooked the UK in the past as destination of choice, but with the uncertainty of travelling abroad, the silver lining is that we can spend more time exploring the amazing nature spots right here where we live. There are some gorgeous destinations in the UK for those that love the great outdoors, far too many to list here, but if you choose Quantock Cottages for your honeymoon you will have the beautiful Quantock Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty literally right on your doorstep. You only need to step out of your private garden and you will be greeted with 9,000 acres of magnificent open moorland. There’s so many romantic walks to be had in the Quantock Hills. Take in the stunning exposed limestone along the coast and explore the beautiful mosaic heathland with its different types of colourful heath and the wonderful wildlife including birds, butterflies and if you’re lucky enough, red deer. Topping our list of beautiful scenery to explore on your honeymoon in Somerset is taking a romantic stroll through the combe – the ancient wooded valleys of the Quantock Hills. Here you can experience its magical woodland trails while enjoying the tranquil sound of birdsong.
5. Plan romantic honeymoon activities
To really make your honeymoon or minimoon special, it’s fun to plan romantic activities that you will both love doing together. From hot air balloon rides to boat trips and horse riding, the choice in the UK is endless. If you choose to stay with us at Quantock Cottages we have some favourite ideas and inspiration for romantic honeymoon or minimoon activities in Somerset. We’ve already talked about enjoying the beauty that nature has to offer, but if you love watching the sunrise or sunset we have some fantastic beaches around us here in the Quantocks, including the rocky Kilve beach, perfect for taking a blanket and watching the colourful sky. We love the idea of a visit to a Somerset winery, spending an afternoon sampling local, delicious wine and relaxing together. While every night on your honeymoon may feel like a date night, booking a romantic evening meal out will make it even more special. We are very lucky to have so many dog friendly restaurants, cafés and pubs in Somerset, but if you want to enjoy a special night out (or day out) just the two of you, we can give you the details to arrange dog sitting with Karen who is a dog trainer. We can highly recommend her, as we have used her walking and dog sitting services extensively ourselves.
We hope you found some inspiration here and wherever you choose to stay we hope you have a spectacular UK honeymoon. If you would like to book your honeymoon or minimoon with us for 2022 please view our availability and prices here.
